Here are some verses that have been coming to mind recently for me.

"Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful." - Mark 4:18-19

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:33-34

Working and planning a wedding takes up a lot of time and energy. I worry about not getting things done which causes unnecessary stress. It's a good thing that I really love Erik and want to marry him. The idea of being able to celebrate the beginning of our new family with friends and family members in the presence of God is also a good motivator.

I had the second round of parent teacher conferences last week. It was a lot of work too but just a few parents' show of gratitude really encouraged me. It's nice to know that they trust and appreciate what I do.

God, please help me to keep my focus on you and don't let your word choke to death. Amen.
