The time I enjoy the most during my teaching day is the Read Aloud time after lunch. For approximately twenty minutes, the students just sit there and listen. They are not allowed to raise their hands or talk. It is a peaceful time. Since I'm the one reading the book, I can choose books that are a bit above my students' reading level and they just follow along in their own books. So far we've read Charlotte's Web by E. B. White and Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien. I enjoyed reading them both and so did the students. Starting tomorrow, we'll be reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis. This would be a nice habit to get into even when I'm not teaching.

This week I've been going through my first round of parent-teacher conferences. It's a learning experience for me as well because some of the parent comments reflect on me as a teacher. None of the parents said anything negative directly, but one parent suggested that maybe her son was playing around in the classroom because it was boring. Hmmm... I guess it's not so much fun to read, write, and do math. Oh well, one out of twenty isn't so bad, but it's something to think about. On a more positive note, one of my parents said that her son is enjoying school a lot more since being in my class last year and she was very grateful. I have her daughter this year. All in all, I can't wait until school is over.

I'm finally not sick after two weeks of body aches, congestion, runny nose, fever, and sore throat. I am so happy to be back in my normal health condition. Woo-hoo!

I've been sick with a cold this week but still went to work anyway. I caught it from one of my students of course. I think it might have happened when he was reading to me and coughed right at my face. It's been weird shivering while it's over 100 degrees outside. I'm also experiencing a lot of technological difficulties this week with my email, internet explorer, and even blogger. It won't let me enter to a new line for some reason. Oh well...at least it's a three day weekend coming up. Whew...
